| How did you get your name? |
| In Zach's words: "This is the story. Tom has many brother and sisters and sometimes they get in scuffles. So, one day two of Tom's younger brothers were feuding. They were Ed and Jimmy, Ed being the youngest of the two. So like always, the older brother is getting the better of the younger one and the insults started flying. Well, Jimmy finally just locked his little brother out of the room that they shared and Ed was getting really flustered. So Ed did what any 8 year old would do, he broke out the crayons and drew a picture of his chubby, older brother Jimmy shoving what appeared to be the earth into his gaping mouth. The caption at the bottom read "jimmy eat world". Ed placed the masterpiece on the fridge in the kitchen for all to see. We thought that was really funny and decided to name the band after the caption. " |
| Who is in the band and when did the band start? |
| Jim Adkins, guitar and lead vocals. Tom Linton, guitar and back up vocals. (Tom sometimes sings lead.) Rick Burch, bass. Zach Lind, drums. A fellow by the name of Mitch Porter played bass before Rick, but left the band in 1994 for personal reasons. The band formed in 1993. Zach and Jim knew eachother since pre-school. Rick and Tom knew each other since 7th grade. In high school, Zach met Tom, and after Mitch left the band, Rick was in and the rest is history.
Rachel Haden, who is not actually in the band, appears on their newest Self Titled record on songs such as "Hear You Me" and has played almost all of their shows in 2001 through early 2002 on keyboard duties and backing vocals. Rachel used to be in a band called That Dog. |
| Where is the band from and where do they live now? |
| The band members all grew up in various cities in Arizona, and still live in Arizona presently. They like to call Mesa, Arizona their collective home. |

| They are all in their mid-twenties. We will get birth dates up here some day. |

| Each member has their own influences. Jim has noted he has been influenced by everything from The Velvet Underground, Wedding Present, (early) Def Leppard, Fugazi, Rocket From The Crypt, Quiet Riot, Violent Femmes, Dead Milkmen, Jesus and Mary Chain, and more. |
| The acronym of Jimmy Eat World is JEW, does that mean they are Jewish? |
| As you learned from the answer to #1, the name of their band has nothing to do with religion. It was mere coincidence. |
| Is Jimmy Eat World a Christian band? |
| No. Jimmy Eat World is not a band for a certain religion. The band members, as of now, keep personal information such as spirituality for themselves. |
| Is anyone in the band single? |
| Zach is married and has a beautiful baby girl named Ava. Jim is engaged. Rick and Tom are either dating or single. |
| What jobs did the band members have before? |
| Zach used to work at an auto dealership. Everyone in the band had odd jobs up until early 2001. We will put more up on this topic soon. |
| Can I email the band? |
| The band used to have email addresses available to the public, but they could not keep up with the hundreds of emails per day they were getting. You may leave the band a message in the "Messages To The Band" forum on the community message board. They sometimes read that when they get a chance. And once in a great while, they will even reply. |
